Welcome to Capture by Jo Photography! I'm a full time photographer based in Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire and I specialise in child photography and offer unique portraits to cherish forever.

A little bit about me........ I'm a mummy to three - Leo who is nine (going on nineteen!), Finley who is seven and Eadie who is a 'big girl' five. I'm married to my soulmate Dave and we all live together with our pets Izzy the dog and Tabby, Pixie and Honey the rats (who, by the way make such wonderful pets). Our house is sometimes a little bit hectic to say the least but I wouldn't have it any other way! You can always hear someone laughing here and that's just wonderful :)
I'm a heart addict, they are scattered throughout my house and I now have a 'wall of hearts' in my hallway! My friends and family buy hearts for me and they are a lovely keepsake.
I love all things vintage/handmade and our home is full of inherited furniture and accessories or vintage finds from junk shops! A natural progression for me as a photographer was to incorporate parts of my home and style into shoots - I often bring with me crochet blankets which were from my Grandma, old suitcases from my Great Aunts loft and vintage cameras from a friends garage!
I love the outdoors and the majority of my shoots take place outdoors using natural, beautiful light. My absolute favourite time to photograph is the hour before sunset, known as the 'golden hour' - I would advise anyone to have an evening shoot - you won't be disappointed!

My shoots are relaxed and fun, I like to capture families as natural as possible so minimal posing. I enjoy seeing you playing with your children, sitting having a cuddle or just being together. I'm not a fan of forced smiles and rigid poses so I prefer to have a bit of fun! If you were little again would you like to be sat still and told to smile or would you like to be running through the long grass or being thrown up in the air by your parents or having a tickle?......... Exactly! Its not always about everyone looking at the camera it about capturing your relationships and memories.
I like to document my shoots with the little details too - close ups of hands being held, grass poking through bare feet or hair blowing in the wind.

If you like what you've read and you have taken a look at my galleries and like what you see then maybe I'm the photographer for you! Please feel free to get in contact using the 'contact' tab and if you would like any more info please shout up and I will be happy to help.

Enjoy looking through my blog and following my work - comments are always welcome

    Much love,

A morning with little Leo….

Had a wonderful morning with three week old Leo and his lovely mum Lynsey. Leo was incredibly content while he was awake and after a few cuddles from his mummy he fell asleep near the end of the shoot…… even managed a few cuddles with him myself:)Love my job!! Here are a few images from their session:)

Spring is in the air!

Its the beginning of March already!! Can you believe it?!!

We’ve been enjoying a little sunshine and milder temperatures over the last few days and the children have had a wonderful time getting back out on the garden and running round like lunatics! Finally managed to put the swing, playhouse and trampoline up at the weekend so its been great playing at home. I’d forgotten how much fun going on a trampoline could be! Even after having three children I still gave it a good go! 😉

Managed to get a few pictures of Eadie yesterday while we were out on the garden, excuse the dirty feet & lack of clothes/coat…….it gets a little sunny here and the children think its summer!

Cant believe she is going to be six (going on sixteen) in a few weeks…… my baby is growing up far too fast.

Introducing….. Seth!

Had the pleasure of photographing sweet little Seth. He was a little unsettled to start off with but after lots of cuddles from mummy and a top up of milk he was fast asleep for the rest of the shoot!
